Negova Castle is a cultural monument of national importance, where culture and tourism get a new meaning. It offers space for unique private or business celebrations as well as various events that attract visitors from near and far.
The castle has allegedly developed from a wooden shooting range in 11/12th
century. It was already mentioned under the name Vest Egaw in written sources from 1425, which was owned by the Austrian noblemen Windnow. Until the end of the World War II, the castle history was also written by two Austrian noble families: from 1433 Perneggi and to 1543 Trauttmansdorff. The castle was in 1487 taken over by the Hungarians under the command of King Matija Korvin for a short period of 5 years. The castle was robbed after World War II. Social housing was arranged in it for many caregivers, who, in view of their abundance and inadequate hygienic conditions, had to abandon the castle buildings in 1993. The new castle and the wall were renovated in 2006. The castle is since 2012 open for visitors. Cultural tourism is also developing in this location. The castle has a fully preserved defense infrastructure and is an excellent example of the development of the modern castle architecture. The castle complex consists of an old fort, a new castle and an inner ward with a wall and an inner courtyard. Plenty of architectural styles: from Romanticism, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque. The remains of Baroque Protestant wall paintings are preserved in the castle chapel.
Visitors to the Negova Castle can visit various art and documentation exhibitions, including various photo exhibitions of the FIAP (= World Organization for Art Photography), the museum exhibitions "Negova over time", "Wine growing on the principles of Negova" and the "Art and sculpture exhibition". Since 2019, the castle also have a memorial room by Dr. med. Anton Trstenjak richer. Dr. Anton Trstenjak was a respected Slovenian scholar, theologian, philosopher and psychologist.
